    When these translations are needed

    Different situations entirely, but the same requirement underneath: a document a Spanish institution will treat as evidence.

    • Continuing treatment in Spain

      You moved, and the treatment did not stop. Your Spanish consultant needs the history: diagnoses, imaging reports, medication, what was tried and what was abandoned. We translate it so a clinician can read it as clinical information, not as a rough approximation.

    • Insurance and injury claims

      An accident abroad, a claim assessed in Spain, or the other way round. Insurers and their lawyers read every line, and they read the translation, not the original — so it has to be both faithful and sworn.

    • Medico-legal and disability files

      Reports going before a court, a tribunal or an assessment board. Here the sworn certification is not optional and the terminology has to survive the journey between two medical systems that categorise things differently.

    • Employment contracts

      A contract being signed by someone who does not read Spanish, or a foreign contract being produced to a Spanish employer, authority or court. Clauses on notice, non-competition and termination are where careless translation costs money.

    • Property and rental agreements

      Purchase contracts, deposit agreements, long leases and community rules. Often needed alongside the rest of a purchase file, and usually needed faster than anyone planned.

    • Commercial agreements and powers of attorney

      Supply and distribution agreements, NDAs, shareholder documents, and the powers of attorney that let a lawyer act for you at a Spanish notary. Full sworn certification where the document has to stand up officially.

    What a sworn translation certifies — and what it does not

    It is worth being precise about this, because a lot of people buy a sworn translation believing it does more than it does. The stamp of a traductor jurado certifies one thing: that the Spanish text is a complete and faithful rendering of the document in front of them. It does not validate the medicine, it does not endorse the contract, and it does not make a document true that was not true to begin with.

    That is exactly why the person doing the translating matters more than the stamp. A discharge summary is dense with abbreviations, drug names and units, and two health systems that classify the same condition differently. A commercial contract is a machine built out of defined terms, and moving a defined term inconsistently breaks it. So the clinical work goes to translators who work in medicine and the contracts go to legal translators; the sworn certification is applied on top, once the translation is right.

    Two things we will tell you before quoting

    • Whether you need a sworn translation at all. A report for your own consultant to read, or a draft contract still under negotiation, usually does not — a high-quality unsworn translation costs less and does the same job. The stamp is for when an institution is going to treat the document as evidence.
    • Whether the document is going to survive the trip. A contract that names a foreign court, or a medical report built on a test that is not run in Spain, will be translated faithfully and may still need explaining. We would rather flag that at the start than have you discover it at the other end.

    Confidentiality is not a clause on this page, it is the job. Medical records and commercial contracts are seen only by the translator assigned to them, uploads are encrypted, and we sign an NDA whenever you want one. Files are permanently deleted 30 days after delivery.

    Does a medical report need a sworn translation?
    It depends entirely on who will read it. For your own doctor in Spain, usually not — an accurate specialist translation is what actually helps them, and it costs less. For an insurer, a court, a tribunal, a disability assessment or an immigration file, yes: those bodies treat the document as evidence and want it certified. Tell us who is asking and we will tell you which one you need.
    Who translates my medical records?
    A translator who works in medicine, not a generalist with a dictionary. Clinical documents are full of abbreviations, drug names, dosages and system-specific classifications, and getting one of those wrong is not a stylistic problem. Where the document is also going to be sworn, the certification is applied once the specialist translation is complete.
    Can you translate a contract that has already been signed?
    Yes, and that is most of this work — contracts signed abroad and now needed by a Spanish employer, notary, court or authority. The translation reproduces the contract as signed, including any handwritten additions, initials and annexes. It does not change the contract, and it does not change which country’s law governs it.
    Is the translation confidential?
    Yes. Uploads are encrypted, the file is seen only by the translator assigned to it, and we will sign an NDA on request — many of our corporate clients require one as a matter of course. Documents are permanently deleted 30 days after delivery.
    Which language pairs do you cover?
    English, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Chinese and more, into and out of Spanish. Medical and legal work in particular is assigned by subject as well as by language, so tell us the field when you ask.
    How much does it cost?
    By document and language pair, as a fixed price agreed before we start, rather than a published rate that would be wrong for most cases. Reports and contracts vary enormously in length, so send the file and you will have a real price the same day, with no obligation.
    How quickly can you deliver?
    You receive the quote within 24 hours. Delivery depends on length and on whether a specialist reviewer is involved; we will give you a firm date with the quote and confirm it before you commit. If there is a hearing, a claim deadline or a notary appointment, tell us the date first.
