    There is no such thing as a sworn translator in the UK

    This trips up almost everyone. Spain has its MAEC-appointed traductores jurados, Germany has translators sworn before a regional court — the United Kingdom has neither. There is no official register and no government stamp.

    What UK bodies actually ask for is a certified translation: a complete, accurate translation accompanied by a signed statement from the translator or the translation company confirming exactly that, together with the date and our contact details. The Home Office sets this out explicitly, and it is what we supply as standard with every UK job.

    So if you have been told to find a "sworn translator in the UK" and cannot, nothing is wrong. Send us the document and tell us who is asking for it, and we will produce the form of certification that body accepts.

    Do I need a sworn translator for the UK?
    No — the UK has no sworn translator register. What is required is a certified translation: a complete, accurate translation with a signed statement confirming it, plus the date and the translator or company details. That is what we provide as standard.
    Will the Home Office accept your translations?
    Yes. Home Office guidance asks for a full translation carrying a confirmation of accuracy, the date, and the translator or company's contact details. Every UK certified translation we produce carries all of it.
    Do I need my documents notarised as well?
    Usually not for UK use — a certified translation is normally enough. Notarisation is occasionally asked for when a document is going abroad afterwards. Tell us who is asking and we will confirm before you spend anything on it.
    Can you translate documents for a university application?
    Yes. Degree certificates, transcripts and reference letters are among the documents we handle most often. If the university or ENIC-UK asks for a specific format, tell us and we will match it.
    How do I send my documents?
    A clear photo taken with your phone is enough — you do not need a scanner. Drag the files onto the quote form, or send them to us on WhatsApp. We accept PDF, Word, JPG, PNG and HEIC, and we never compress them, so stamps and handwriting stay legible.
    How quickly will I get my translation?
    You receive your quote within 24 hours. Once you approve it and payment is confirmed, most standard certificates are delivered within 24 to 48 hours. If you have a deadline, tell us the date and we will confirm before you commit.
    Are my documents safe?
    Yes. Uploads are encrypted, they are seen only by the translator assigned to your job, and they are permanently deleted 30 days after your translation is delivered. We never share them with anyone else.
